Most calluses heal on their own, but you might be able to hasten the healing process. Soak the callus in warm and soapy water for at least 10 minutes, then use a pumice stone to rub off the dead skin. You can buy a specialized foot pad at your local drugstore or supermarket to keep the pressure off your callus while it heals. Getting Help Some people have the habit of wearing shoes for most of the time. This increases the likeliness of developing foot corns. So, for foot corn prevention, avoid wearing covered shoes indoors. The point is to promote aeration to the toes, whenever possible. In addition, foot and toe massage can help to reduce the effects or occurrence of cramping. Staying hydrated and stretched in the rest of the body can also take some of the street off the feet. It is important for dancers who are just beginning to dance barefoot to take care of their feet and toes, and work to heal cracks or other problems as soon as possible. A strap over the instep will hold the foot back against the heel and prevent it from slipping forward, and will also prevent the heel from slipping out (note, flimsy straps on ill fitting sandals won't do the job) Primarily, high heels hurt humans as they are neither made for giving comfort to the feet nor the human feet are suitable to wear high heels. The human feet are supposed to provide balance and support to the body when humans run or walk. The high heels will change the posture of the legs which cannot properly help in walking or running. The change in shape of the feet by wearing them causes much pain to the legs. This might further lead to improper functioning of the feet. Toe Separators – silicone toe separator between the big toe and second toe stops them from rubbing up against each other. A second exercise is also easy. That is simply trying to 'make a fist' with your foot. Tighten up the muscles and hold it for the count of 5 and then release. As you get stronger, hold it for longer and longer. Do repetitions. As you get stronger, you should start getting some relief. Even if you are not having pain, these are great exercises to do to keep you from starting to get pain. So, you should be doing them even if you don't have foot pain right now. Protect the protruding joint with corn pads or felt pads, corrective footwear, or other foot devices. Exercises may be helpful. It was my first class with Donald Moyer in the new year, January having flown by and February upon us. I checked in with him before class began and mentioned an unusual aching in the lateral aspect of my left foot that I had been experiencing for about two months. It was not bad enough from preventing me from my normal activities, but I noticed it when turning my left foot out to 90 degrees for many of my standing poses. He gave me some pointers for the day’s practice, and then class began. Treatment for the neuroma consists of cortisone injections, orthotics, chemical destruction of the nerve, or surgery. Cortisone injections are generally used as an initial form of treatment. Cortisone is useful when injected around the nerve, because it can shrink the swelling of the nerve. This relieves the pressure on the nerve. Up to three cortisone injections can be given over a twelve-month period. Cortisone may provide relief for many months, but is often not a cure for the condition. The abnormal movements of the metatarsal bones continue to aggravate the condition over a period of time.
